It’s barely been a month since their last record, but King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are already back with new music.

Back in January, King Gizzard took to Facebook to reveal that new music was on the way, seemingly confirming the involvement of The Drones and Tropical Fuck Storm’s Gareth Liddiard in the process.

Before long though, it was revealed that the band were set to release their 14th studio album (and first since 2017), Fishing For Fishies. However, before that one was released into the world, the group decided to drop another new single, releasing the thrash metal-inspired ‘Planet B’ in April.

Now, with Fishing For Fishies out in the world, it’s looking like album #15 could be one of their heaviest to date.

Released this morning, King Gizzard unleashed their latest single, unveiling the crushing ‘Self-Immolation’.

Featuring an opening riff that would make Slayer’s Kerry King blush, the track features some of King Gizz’s most brutal vocals to date, with both the song and music video becoming one of the band’s most fiery and ferocious to date.

Directed by John Angus Stewart and produced by Max Coles & Jono Kable, the music video features the band drinking petrol and setting themselves on fire, with the clip also appearing to serve as a thematic continuation to the video for ‘Planet B’.

At this stage, there’s no word if the group’s next album will feature these new singles, or if any future thrash metal-inspired songs will feature similar music videos, but what is certain is that King Gizzard are at the heaviest we’ve ever seen them.

With an Aussie tour kicking off in just under a month, you can be sure that fans are set to witness some of the sweatiest mosh pits the’ve ever seen.
