The King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Australian Tour 2013 has been announced to commemorate the release of the band’s third studio album Float Along – Fill Your Lungs.
Fresh from performing a series jam packed shows at BIGSOUND, with three (!) performances in one day, King Lizard & The Lizard Wizard are excited to announce the Float Along – Fill Your Lungs Tour, hitting venues across the country this October and November to help launch the band’s third album (and their second for the year following the Spaghetti western, spoken-word odyssey Eyes Like The Sky).
The six date national tour will see the Melbourne based septet loading up the tour van to bring their energetic live show to crowds in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, and Fremantle.
The mighty rock collective have already road-tested Float Along – Fill Your Lungs with two very special album previews in Melbourne recently. “Their songcraft has evidently matured on this new album,” wrote our Tone Deaf reviewer of the live dates; “fans need not fear, however. King Gizzard are still firmly grasping their signature garage-psychosis, but this album immerses those sun-drenched summery sing-alongs in more expansive psychedelic sounds.”
King Gizzard have already given fans a few tastes of that new psychedelic influence on the the 16-min opening epic ‘Head On/Pill’ and the tantric grooves of ’30 Past 7′. Following on from that, the band have released the new music video for new single ‘I’m Not A Man Unless I Have A Woman,’ a gender-bending duet between lead vocalists Stu Mackenzie and Ambrose Kenny-Smith over a frazzled sonic backdrop of bouncing guitar lines and fried-out production.
The vide for the single was released overnight (by US based Nylon Magazine), in which King Gizzard teamed up with Melbourne audio-visual artist Jason Galea (ZonkVision) to create a clip that combines retro-archive footage of biker gangs, festival goers and the band themselves playing in regional Victoria (watch below).
The Float Along – Fill Your Lungs tour will follow King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s live performance at the 9th Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards, with the band’s debut album 12 Bar Bruise nominated in the AIR Awards ceremony.
