Among their many fans, Norway minimalists KINGS OF CONVENIENCE inspire the kind of fervent emotion usually reserved for deities. For over a decade music lovers have been treated to the delicate beauty of Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe.
Debut Quiet Is The New Loud is a modern classic, and it was an agonising five year wait for their most recent release, 2009’s Declaration Of Dependence. In the gaps between their releases, Erlend Øye has won acclaim for his other project, Whitest Boy Alive, whose delicate brand of electronica saw them sell out their Sydney Festival dates earlier this year.
Described as “the Daft Punk of acoustic music” (Drowned In Sound), the Kings are renowned for their live performance…’partly because of the undoubted loveliness of their songs and partly because the duo are, unexpectedly, hilarious on stage.’ (The Guardian). Performing live as a five-piece, the band will bring their gorgeous songs to life. For an example of what to expect, check out their recent performance at Spain’s Primavera Sound.
