Most of KISS have just played their most intriguing concert to date, performing a show for great white sharks in South Australia, despite no sharks turning up.

Early last month, it was announced that KISS’ 2019 tour of Australia was set to include a unique concert for great white sharks off the coast of Port Lincoln in South Australia.

While the band ultimately cancelled their tour last week due to an illness affecting Paul Stanley, it was revealed that the remaining members of the group would in fact go ahead with their plan to perform this maritime gig.

As the ABC have since reported, the gig took place on Monday afternoon to a crowd of just eight people, and no sharks.

With bassist Gene Simmons, guitarist Tommy Thayer, and drummer Eric Singer on deck (figuratively and literally), the floating concert was set to show how sharks were attracted to soundwaves as opposed to blood or bait.

“What we’re doing here is playing a concert for the sharks as opposed to the sharks being entertainment for us, we’re going to try and entertain them,” explained Adventure Bay Charters owner Matt Waller.

With just eight people on deck for the concert, the band did perform to a slightly larger crowd than that, with approximately 50 people turning up via boat to witness the smallest gig KISS have played to in a long time.

“The guys were tight, they were right into it, it was loud, there were lights, there were smoke machines — it was everything that a KISS concert should be,” Waller explained to the ABC.

While the gig unfortunately failed to attract any sharks, Gene Simmons was still pleased with the performance, reportedly telling Matt Waller that “this is probably the most interesting gig I’ve ever done, I’d want my own autograph after this.”

At the current time, it’s unclear when KISS will announce rescheduled dates for the Australian leg of their End Of The Road tour. Stay tuned though, and we’ll be first to let you know when they do.
