Liam Gallagher has rescheduled the release of his MTV Unplugged live album, after coronavirus delayed the original release date.

The Oasis legend had slated the record for April 24th, but due to isolation restrictions he had to delay the album indefinitely.

Now due on June 12th, the wholly acoustic session — recorded at Hull’s City Hall in August 2019 — features tracks from his records As You Were and Why Me? Why Not, as well as Oasis fan favourites ‘Champagne Supernova’, ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘Some Might Say’. With the album, Gallagher joins the ranks of other all-time greats such as Paul McCartney and Nirvana who have also recorded MTV Unplugged sessions.

“Brothers and Sisters, here it is the new release date for the MTV unplugged – 12th June LG x” Gallagher wrote on Twitter, before going on a sweary rant about putting his first BBQ together in 29 years. Classic Liam!

While the album does come with some special treats — such as Liam’s first-ever live vocal performance of ‘Sad Song’, a bonus track from Definitely Maybe — fans will still be wondering when that long-awaited Oasis reunion might happen.

Rumours of the iconic britpop act reuniting have been rife for years. In January, Liam took to Twitter to tease a 2022 reunion, while at the same time announcing plans to retire as a solo artist after the release of his third album. “After album no3 I’m gonna split up with myself I just don’t think I’ll be able to work with myself any longer I can write what I like and so can he but I think it’s for the best,” he wrote.

Liam most recently took to begging his brother Noel Gallagher to reunite Oasis. In the midst of the UK’s coronavirus crisis in March, Noel wrote on Twitter: “Rite sick of pleading begging etc no more olive branches I DEMAND an oasis reunion after this is all over all money going to NHS c’mon you know As we were LG x”. Perhaps there’s hope yet?
