Lil Nas X has addressed fans after a turbulent few days that saw him charged with four felonies for allegedly assaulting police officers.

The rapper, born Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested last Friday morning around 6am local time after police found him roaming the streets of Studio City in his underwear and cowboy boots in what authorities described as a disconcerted state. In his first social media appearance since the incident, Hill reassured followers while acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

“Your girl is gonna be okay, y’all,” Hill said in the Instagram Story post (as per Rolling Stone). “Okay? She’s gonna be alright. Shit.” Letting out a tired laugh, he continued: “That was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be alright.”

The arrest followed a series of concerning social media posts that had sparked widespread speculation amongst fans and industry observers. Hill had shared unreleased music, mirror selfies, artwork, and images of miscellaneous objects scattered throughout what appeared to be his home. The erratic nature of these posts led some to question whether this was part of an elaborate marketing campaign for new music.

However, the seriousness of the situation became clear when spectators captured footage of Hill in a visibly dishevelled state, speaking incoherently to cameras. In one particularly striking clip, he was seen wearing an orange traffic cone on his head whilst wandering the streets.

According to police reports, Hill “charged” at officers when they attempted to confront him upon arriving at the scene. He was initially transported to a nearby hospital for a possible overdose, where he spent several hours before being transferred to jail for the weekend.

On Monday, Hill pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. He faces three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. The judge set his bail at $75,000 and mandated that he attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings weekly or participate in outpatient treatment.
