SoundCloud rapper Lil Xan has taken to Instagram to detail his newfound sobriety from prescription drugs.

The rapper — real name Diego Leanos — has been vocal about his addictions to benzodiazepines (particularly Xanax) as well as opiates throughout his career. In a lengthy post, Leanos revealed that over the past two months he has been experiencing seizures. The seizures were a catalyst for him to make an acute effort to wean himself off prescription pills.

“About 2 months ago I suffered from multiple seizures. This was my second time in the last year I’ve been hospitalized for having seizures. I decided it was best for me, my friend’s, family and supporters that I quit all prescriptions pills,” he shared.

“The doctor’s wanted me to wean off the pills but I went cold turkey and although it has been the toughest time in my life I’m happy to say that I’ve been sober from all prescription pills since the scare,” he continued.

“This is the first time in along time that I have felt alive. I’ll will continue my journey towards becoming a better me. I want to be an example for everyone that it’s never too late to get your life back on track and you are not alone on this journey.”

The rapper went on to reveal that he is currently working on “the best music of my life”, despite announcing he was quitting music in order to focus on other ventures back in December.

It’s been a strange, peppered career for Xan While who has been embroiled in a series of bizarre headlines, including his infamous hospitalisation for eating too many Flamin’ Hot Cheetosconspiracy theories raised about the legitimacy of his fiancée’s miscarriage, and footage of him pulling a gun on a man who criticised the rapper’s comments on Tupac Shakur.
