The answer is yes. Lil Yachty and Mattel are currently in the works of adapting a film based on the beloved card game, Uno.

As The Hollywood Reporter, report, the film is set to be an action heist comedy, set in the underground hip hop scene of Atlanta — Lil Yachty’s hometown. Yachty is set to produce the film, and rumours have it he pay even flex his acting chops.

The 23-year-old rap wunderkind has previously acted in MTV’s How High 2, as well as made cameos in Long Shot, Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve, and voiced a role in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.

The script is set to be penned by Marcy Kelly and produced alongside Mattel Films.  “Uno is a game that transcends generations and cultures and we look forwards to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as with Coach, P, and Brian Sher, to transform the classic UNO game into a comedic action-adventure,” Mattel’s Robbie Brenner shared in a statement.

Whilst Lil Yachty ads, “I played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.”

Details about the forthcoming project are scarce, so scarce that we can’t even tell you how Uno is involved at all. All we know is that it sounds completely ridiculous, ambitious and a hell of a lot of fun.

In addition to the forthcoming film, Mattel Television has confirmed that a reality television game show revolving around Uno is currently in the works. I mean, if there was ever a time for a renewed interest in card games — may as well be in an era where a fair chunk of us are going stir crazy locked inside.
