London’s latest ‘it’ boy Niall Galvin, formally known under the moniker Only Real, is an act that’s on the rise.
The fresh-faced 22-year old made his debut at this year’s SXSW, to which Tone Deaf tipped the youngster as one of the 23 Bands You Must See at the industry conference. That hot tip is now totally warranted with his latest release, ‘Cadillac Girl’.
The track opens with a most deliciously heart-warming jangle-pop hook that would turn Mac DeMarco’s five-panel cap inside out. ‘Cadillac Girl’ continues rolling that guitar-pop haze together with King Krule’s baritone, but delivered in a bratty-Brit-hop drawl that’s uniquely Galvin’s own.
The summer-dream vibes floating on, Galvin reveals his ‘dragged through the gravel’ husk as he bellows “Oooh/She’s so over me/She’s so cold.”
The video for the nostalgia-drenched track features a forlorn Galvin crusing through the streets with his pals in a (you guessed it) Cadilliac, oddly chuckling away as he croons for a love lost.
