In what comes as a win for our live music scene, London Grammar have announced their upcoming Australian tour.
Set to hit our shores in 2022, the band will play in five capital cities to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated third album, California Soil.
Four singles from Californian Soil, which drops on Friday, April 16th, have been released to date, including its title track. Most recently, the band debuted ‘How Does It Feel’ to critical acclaim.
In a statement about the inspiration behind the record, frontwoman Hannah Reid explained that she relied on the support of bandmates Dan Rothman and Dot Major to help find the power needed to overcome the difficulties of being a woman in a male-dominated industry.
“Misogyny is primitive… which is why it is so hard to change. But it is also fearful. It’s about rejecting the thing in yourself which is vulnerable or feminine. Yet everybody has that thing,” she said.
“This record is about gaining possession of my own life. You imagine success will be amazing. Then you see it from the inside and ask, why am I not controlling this thing? Why am I not allowed to be in control of it? And does that connect, in any way to being a woman? If so, how can I do that differently?”
California Soil is the follow-up to 2017’s Truth Is A Beautiful Thing, which saw the band achieve their second appearance in the top three of the ARIA charts.
