In a ‘musician shows previously unseen Protestant work ethic’ shock, Luke Steele reckons he’s going to release three albums in 2010. Speaking to the NME, he said that not only is he working on a new Empire of the Sun record and a new Sleepy Jackson record ; but in surely the most anticipated release of the year, a “punk rock” solo project.

The EOTS record will see him working without Pnau’s Nick Littlemore, who is apparently still no speakies with Steele after their tiff last year. Steele is threatening  that the record will sound a bit like Mylo and Prince. Meanwhile the Sleepy Jackson record will apparently be ‘classic songs the whole way through’. It would want to be after the rumoured $700,000 dropped by EMI on recording its predecessor, the snappily titled Personality – One Was A Spider, One Was A Bird, which only sold around 50,000 copies.

Finally, Steele’s ‘punk rock’ album – apparently 90 per cent finished – will be released under the moniker Icon Python. Rumours that Steele has been spotted lately wandering around crusty Melbourne punk venues such as The Arthouse looking for band members remain unconfirmed.
