Marilyn Manson has given fans an update into his upcoming album, revealing how he hooked up with collaborator Shooter Jennings along the way.

Back in October of 2017, Marilyn Manson released his most recent album, Heaven Upside Down. Since then, fans have been wondering when and if we’ll be hearing new music from the iconic shock-rocker.

While Manson hasn’t exactly been out of the headlines, he’s predominantly been preoccupied with his double-header tour alongside Rob Zombie, which recently saw him perform a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Helter Skelter’ alongside the rocker.

Last month though, Marilyn Manson undoubtedly raised excitement levels when he revealed that his 11th album was nearing completion.

Now, in an interview with Eddie Trunk for SiriusXM (via Blabbermouth), Manson has revealed his record is “more than half” completed.

Discussing  the sound of his new record, Manson explained that its “template” was “a bit of a mixture” between the likes of Killing Joke, and David Bowie’s 1974 record, Diamond Dogs.

Elsewhere, Manson discussed how he came to collaborate with outlaw country musician Shooter Jennings.

“I felt like it was a good time for a change,” Marilyn Manson explained. “And I became friends with Shooter.”

“He’s a musical genius. Shooter, he kind of reminds me of The Dude from The Big Lebowski… But we have this different vibe where I don’t have to really tell him what I’m thinking.”

“I didn’t know this, but he was a fan of what I did growing up, also underneath his father, Waylon Jennings. So he adds a completely different element.”

Having teamed up with Jennings at a Kris Kristofferson concert recently, Manson first appeared with the country musician back in 2016 when they covered David Bowie’s ‘Cat People’.

Speaking to Rolling Stone at the time, Jennings explained how he managed to record the creepy cover with Marilyn Manson.

“I invited him out to a party at this bar, and I said, ‘Hey, you know ‘Cat People’? You want to do that song on this record, ’cause you’d sound awesome doing it’,” Jennings recalled. “And he was like, ‘I sing that song every night before I go onstage. That’s my song I warm up to.’”

“So one night I went over to his house at three in the morning and brought all my recording gear,” he continued. “His house is cavernous and looks like a bordello and it was his voice echoing through the house. It was pretty intense.”

At this stage, we’re still waiting to see when we might receive Marilyn Manson’s new record, but it doesn’t seem like we’ll be waiting too much longer.
