Megadeth's David Ellefson releases play-through video of 'Simple Truth'

Megadeth bassist Davie Ellefson has been providing all sorts of goodness during COVID-19 lockdown. First, he announced that he would be hosting free, online classes for music students to learn from him, then he shared his new music benefitting charity, and now he’s released a play-through video of his solo single ‘Simple Truth’.

Released back at the beginning of the month, ‘Simple Truth’ was designated to raise funds for the Italian Red Cross, in their efforts to fight the COVID-19 global pandemic, as Italy caught a massive brunt of the virus.

Now, Ellefson has come back with a play-through version of his song, so we can all learn it step-by-step. On the track itself, Ellefson has stated that they wanted this song to benefit the Italian Red Cross since they “actually wrote the song in Milan during a tour rehearsal, and a lot of it was recorded there.”

“While we’re all staying positive and just keeping busy, it’s heartbreaking to see what’s going on over there with the death toll climbing every day,” he stated at the beginning of the month.

“We played several shows in Italy on our European ‘More Live With Deth’ tour last year, and I was just there with Megadeth back in February. It’s absolutely devastating to see what the country is going through right now. The people, and its culture, have been so welcoming to me over the years, that i’m honored to do anything I can to give something back to them during this time of need.”

Throughout the course of COVID-19, Ellefson has continuously done his best to help raise funds for the Italian Red Cross, as well as attend to children and students in need via his School’s Out initiative, where students can receive free lessons from esteemed rock stars, as well as free instruments and equipment.

“When one person suffers, we all suffer, and this is an unprecedented moment in history when all of us around the world are united for a common cause,” Ellefson has stated. “Music and the arts have always been some of our greatest healers in a way none other can.”
