If you listen closely enough, you can hear the rumble approaching that is Metallica’s headline Australian tour which kicks off in October. If any fans were worried that simply won’t be enough of a ‘Tallica fix, they’ll be pleased to know that Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M² will be released in cinemas, throughout the world, that same month.

Metallica and San Francisco Symphony: S&M² sees the two entities reunite to mark the 20th anniversary of their iconic collaboration, S&M (Symphony & Metallica). The S&M² performance was filmed at San Francisco’s new Chase Centre, and will now be sent to cinemas all throughout the globe.

S&M² marks the first time these arrangements have been performed live since the original concert too place. Even if you’ve played the album nonstop since it’s release, you will still be in for a surprise with talk of new and improved renditions, as well as new orchestral charts by orchestrator, musical arranger and Tony award-winning Bruce Coughlin.

As per the original release, the track list for S&M² will be a mix of time tested fan favourites including Master Of Puppets, Fuel, Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters, with plenty of off the beaten track moments, including The Thing That Shouldn’t Be, Bleeding Me and No Leaf Clover.

Indeed, if there was one Metallica release that all Metallica fans can agree on, it was S&M.

The concert will hit cinemas worldwide on October 7, moments before the band kicks off their official headline run featuring Slipknot.

Tickets to the screenings go on sale nice and early on August 7. So far, no official word on which cinemas in Australia will be showing screenings, but cans are being pointed to the official website to sign up and brace for updates.
