Metallica have confirmed they’ll be riding the lighting Down Under with an Australian and New Zealand tour this October and November. After Lars Ulrich let slip at a press conference in Colombia that they’d be playing dates here in the Spring, the band posted dates on their website yesterday, saying: “We know, we know . . . it has been WAY too long since we visited this part of the world, but we’re here to tell you that it is game on!!!! We can’t wait to head over to New Zealand and many parts of Australia bringing the World Magnetic Tour to places it has not rocked yet.”

Judging by gaps between dates they’re hoping to do at least three dates in both Melbourne and Sydney and at least two in Auckland, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. Tickets are on sale May 13th and fan club members are urged to check www.metclub.com for pre-sale details.

Auckland on October 13
Brisbane October 18
Perth October 22
Sydney November 10
Adelaide November 15
Melbourne November 18
