Metallica has unveiled that they will be releasing a limited edition “Batch 100” launch of their Blackened Whiskey.
The metal legends have devised the ultimate listening-cum-drinking experience to celebrate this unique batch. The tipple of choice uses a “proprietary sonic-enhancement process” called “Black Noise,” based around a custom-made subwoofer. This new release will arrive with a box set containing the vinyl records used to age the whiskey.
The box set will include a bottle of the blended American whiskey, two 12-inch vinyl picture discs comprised of curated Metallica playlist used in the aging process, and a Blackened Zine that offers to transport “fans into the belly of the beast that is the Batch 100 playlist, with personal commentary from [drummer] Lars Ulrich and [Master Distiller & Blender] Rob Dietrich, delving into the masterful collaboration behind the whiskey [along with] iconic imagery of the band and Dietrich captured by legendary photographer Danny Clinch, with behind-the-scenes glimpses of Metallica’s HQ and rehearsal space.”
The “Batch 100” marks the first time the aging process of a Metallica brew was not soundtracked by music chosen by the band. The playlist curatorial responsibility was shafted to Master Distiller & Blender Rob Dietrich.
“When I look at Rob’s playlist, I love the selections, I love the variety,” shares drummer Lars Ulrich. “I love that he’s gone for two deeper live tracks from the ‘Damaged Justice’ tour, I love seeing both the Binge & Purge and Through the Never eras represented, and he even tapped the Helping Hands album, so it’s clear he is not a part-timer!”
Earlier this month, Metallica announced that throughout May they would host an ‘All Within My Hands Month Of Giving’ charity pledge to raise funds for coronavirus relief. The band have already hosted live stream concerts and auctioned off merch to help alleviate the impact of coronavirus, this incentive will see them pledge themselves for the Month Of Giving.
“Inspired by the launch of #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity taking place on May 5th as a response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19, we decided to make the entire month of May our #MonthOfGiving,” the band shared.
