Miley Cyrus has enlisted the help of a few famous friends to contribute to her forthcoming Metallica covers album.
News that Miley was set to cut her teeth honouring the rock monoliths was first revealed in a feature with Interview Magazine back in October.
During a conversation with Rick Owens, Cyrus, who was fresh off a winning streak of sublime rock covers said: “We’ve been working on a Metallica cover album and I’m here working on that. We’re so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this. At first, it felt uninspiring and now I’ve been totally ignited.”
Now, Miley has offered more details about the forthcoming album, including a couple of succulent name drops revealing the collaborators set to help her bring her cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ to life.
In an interview with UK radio show Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, Cyrus revealed, “I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ featuring Elton John on piano. I’ve got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith, just so many all-stars.”
She continued, “I’m so excited about this collaboration. Andrew Watt produced it and I’m really stoked. I mean having Elton John and Metallica and me, I love it when ingredients don’t quite fit.”
Miley Cyrus is no stranger to Metallica covers or eclectic collaborations with her music contemporaries. The pop icon previously delivered a blistering cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ live during her 2019 set at the Glastonbury Festival. Whilst her latest album, Plastic Hearts, features contributions from legacy rockers like Joan Jett, Billy Idol and Stevie Nicks.
