Multi-platinum songwriter J. Wright, was arrested on murder charges on Monday, May 10th, for allegedly shooting and killing his 20-year-old girlfriend.

Davenport, Ohio police found 20-year-old Wilanna Bibbs dead after responding to a disturbance in the home. J. Wright, 31, was detained and charged with first-degree murder. A cash-only bond has been set at $500,000.

The Atlanta musician requested an appointed attorney, explaining that living in hotels during the coronavirus pandemic left him broke. “I’m not making anything right now,” he said. “All my belongings were stolen in November.”

J. Wright, born Justin Wright, founded his Camp Entertainment Worldwide company in 2011. He has written for the likes of hip hop heavyweights Future, 21 Savage, Timbaland, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled, Bow Wow and more. Through his work with Camp Entertainment Worldwide, Wright has achieved multi-platinum songwriter status.

As Neighbourhood Talk report, a family member claims that the relationship between Wright and Bibbs was riddled with emotional abuse. “They were dating and Justin manipulated & controlled her, she was trying to leave,” the family member said.

In a comment under one of J. Wight’s Instagram posts, they wrote: “You took her to Iowa and killed her on Mother’s Day, you threatened to kill my daughter also a few ago in ATL. You brainwashed & manipulated my cousin and tried to turn her against us. I hate she loved you, I hate she ever met you.”
