Frank Iero has responded to Joe Jonas’ supposed “gossip” of a My Chemical Romance reunion, reminding everyone in the process that the Jonas Brothers will forever just be “a Disney band”.

Back in June, the world of music was somewhat shocked to hear that news of an apparent My Chemical Romance reunion had been leaked by – of all people – Joe Jonas.

Speaking to UK radio station KISS FM, Joe Jonas explained that he had inside info in regards to the emo icons performing together for the first time since 2013.

“I’ve got some dirt,” Jonas explained. “My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which — I thought they broke up, so…that’s the gossip!”

While fans thoroughly enjoyed this very notion, MCR guitarist Frank Iero responded to the news without explicitly denying it. “I survived a bus accident, so anything is possible,” he explained.

However, after mocking Joe Jonas and the supposed ‘news’ on social media earlier this month, Iero has now spoken to the Zach Sang Show to discuss the comments made by Jonas and the prospect of a reunion.

“I don’t understand why you would do an interview about your band and talk about someone else’s band,” Iero began.

“I think they’re trying to rebrand their band as a real rock band and they’re trying to mention as many rock bands and trying to get, like, synonymous with other things,” he added.

“And people aren’t gonna forget that you’re a Disney band, bro. Sorry, it’s not gonna happen.”

Frank Iero isn’t too far off in his assessment though, with the Jonas Brothers recently returning with new songs like ‘Sucker’, which has drawn comparisons to ‘Feel It Still’ by rockers Portugal. The Man.

At this stage, it appears as though any hopes of a My Chemical Romance reunion might not be realised any time soon, but if anything, it tells us not to take any “gossip” from Joe Jonas too seriously.
