Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood has released sheet music for a composition entitled “88 (No.1)”. The composition was written sometime in 2015 and this is the first time it has been made available to the public.
It is available for purchase through Faber Music — who have previously released songbooks for Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool and Pablo Honey. The website describes “88 (No.1) as “a contemporary work for solo piano, suitable for advanced-level players, consisting of two movements, slow and fast.”
In a tweet Greenwood has divulged that the song is “inspired by Glen Gould”.
New piano music on paper out today. It’s inspired by Glen Gould, and by the glorious mechanics of the thing. https://t.co/4SRUHR8Ytl @kat_tinker (who played this version first) @JRhodesPianist (the only other pianist I follow) pic.twitter.com/74OFYFuoHK
