Today it seems  fans of RnB-tinged-pop music hit the jackpot.

Along with the news that Destiny’s Child are re-forming to release a brand new single, another 90s boy/girl group alumni, Justin Timberlake has divulged that he too is back in the studio via a cryptic new video teaser.

The recently married Micky Mouser-turned-boy band star-turned singer-turned actor-turned designer-turned mogul announced the news through some short, vague, but very serious footage on his official website.

While we’re still unsure what form his new release will take, whatever it is will be Timberlake’s first recorded work since 2006’s modern pop masterpiece Future Sex/Love Sounds, which was both critically and commericaly successful, producing huge hits like ‘Sexy Back’ and ‘My Love’.

JT announced his solo career over a decade ago, when he stepped out of the perfectly coifed shadow of 90s boy band *NSync and proved that it is in fact possible to go solo.

Since 2002, Timberlake has only released two records, starting with his solo debut Justified, and recently he’s been more focussed on his extra curricular activities, such as his acting roles and buying up MySpace, than his his musical career. A fact the singer makes mention of in his teaser video:

“Someone asked me the other day, ‘so are you just done with music?’ It means more to me than anybody else in the world. Look, I’ve only done two albums in 10 years, that’s the way I look at it. I’m the one who sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it. As close as I get to it, I don’t know that I could physically torture myself year in and year out and expect it to fulfil me the way that it does and the way that it is right now. I don’t wanna put something that I feel like I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it. I’m ready.”

Along with the teaser on his website, there is a giant countdown clock, which at time of publication is has roughly three days left on the timer. What it’s counting down to, we’re unsure but JT’s got us all excited.

His music career isn’t the only thing the former boy-bander is relaunching. Many were surprised to learn in 2011 that Mr. Timberlake was announced as one of the new fiscal and creative minds behind the rebooting of social media website Myspace, which had seen dire days since the popularisation of Facebook. Timberlake bought the fledging website for $35 million dollars despite it being valued at $580 million just a few years prior.

Since that news broke, many teasers and updates have been put forward to the public, including the news that music would be the new social media website’s top priority, and the discovery that Myspace music would be a veritable ‘Spotify killer’ due to its possession of the largest music library in the world.

So far, use of the site, which announced that it would be deleting all existing data for the music reboot, is by invitation only, but both the aesthetics and the user friendly options have many excited for its official launch later this year.

Looks like 2013 is going to be the year of Timberlake!
