Starting next week Melbourne’s best kept roots secret Van Walker hits the road nationally to commemorate the launch his latest album Underneath The Radar (out now through The Fuse Music Group.) Van is set to bring to life the wonderful words and music that have made him a live favourite in his adopted home town of Melbourne and is sure to further cement his rightful place at the forefront of the Australian roots music.
Van Walker moved from the wilds of Tasmania to the big smoke of Melbourne in 2001 and spent the following decade creating an extensive catalogue of solo material. Word soon spread that this troubadour was bringing a new energy into a well-worn genre which culminated in Van’s first solo album The Celestial Railroad, which was acclaimed by Rhythms Magazine as, “”A hell of a prolific record, with song writing and delivery constructed to break the hearts of many in the Aussie Roots scene who have tried for years to express themselves in this manner.”
Following his releases The Last Record Store, Greetings from Penguin Tasmania, Love Fate, Bush League Bard among many others now Van, with Fuse, is channelling this amazing back catalogue of barely controllable creative energy into an introductory album for new fans: Underneath The Radar.
The album cherry picked a collection of incredible songs designed to announce to the rest of the world that Van Walker is a prolific song writing talent, a brilliant performer and a star worthy of wider recognition.
