With the 2013 edition of the Big Day Out now officially just one week away, there’s still a final few details of the revamped one-day music festival to contend with even after having all the set times all locked in (including the enforced earlier curfew placed on the Perth leg), and unique features like a Mexican Wrestling bar, the return of the Lilypad, a fully automated robotic band, and unique Australian acts added to the lineup in each capital city.
Following on from Sydney’s sell out just before the holiday season, Big Day Out organisers have confirmed that their special ‘Like A Boss’ tickets have sold out nationwide. The $265 VIP ticket gives ticket holders special treatment, including dedicated entry and all day pass outs, entry to special shaded areas and lounges, free coat check, storage, and phone charging facilities, and perhaps best of all ‘Executive Climate Controlled Toilets’ (no sawdust bog pit for you sir/madam!).
While the opening date at the Sydney Showgrounds next Friday 18th January is completely sold out, general tickets are still available for the remaining dates of the touring festival, including the Gold Coast (which is currently seeking a new home for 2014), Melbourne, Adelaide, and finishing in Perth, where Environment Minister Bill Marmion is ensuring a 10pm curfew and strict noise level monitoring throughout the day.
To help prospective punters navigate their way through the mammoth lineup – which includes headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Killers, Animal Collective, Death Grips, ME, Vampire Weekend, Alabama Shakes and many more – Big Day Out have launched their 2013 Mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.
The free app contains all the requisite features for punters, including browsing the lineup, set times, maps, building a custom schedule of the day’s events, or reading up about the juicy culinary delicacies on offer at Chow Town, the festival food revolution courtesy of Big Day Outʼs ʻCulinary Outlawsʼ, Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz of Porteno / Bodega.
Speaking of Chow Town, the full menu ‘lineup’ has now been revealed, with a tantalising selection of eateries providing food that’s music for your mouth, with exclusive restauranteurs, eateries, and chefs in each capital city. Forget corn dogs and greasy chips, this is the way to eat in style.
