Splendour In The Grass Details Anti-Scalper Ticket Resale Facility

Shortly after going on sale, it took only an hour before organisers of Splendour In The Grass announced that all three-day, one-day, and camping tickets to the winter music festival had been completely exhausted. The Country Club VIP passes soon disappeared after that, leading to Splendour 2013 completely selling out.

As a swathe of Splendour 2013 Sideshows were announced to appease the many punters who’d missed out on the Byron Bay event, Splendour organisers issued a warning over the alarming amount of ticket scalpers appearing online, especially through auction site Gumtree.

Thought the touters forced Splendour organisers’ collective hand, scrapping the reissue option for 2013, those who still had their hearts on attending the three-day music festival to catch its 77-strong lineup, there was still the Official Resale facility to look forward to.

Now the details of Splendour’s secure Resale program have been announced. Put together in conjunction with MoshTix, the Resale facility allows those who can no longer attend to offer up their unwanted tickets to those that very much do desire them. As the official Splendour website stresse:

For those still wanting to buy a ticket, this will be the ONLY way to secure a legitimate ticket to Splendour In the Grass 2013. Tickets cannot be obtained through any other means, such as online auction sites or by direct transfer from another individual.
Those intending to offer their unwanted event and/or camping tickets for sale may do so from 9am Tuesday 4 June until 5pm on Saturday 20 July via moshtix.com.au This RESALE facility will allow them to offer their tickets back up for sale through Moshtix, giving them the opportunity to get their money back (minus $20 resale fee & original booking fees).
Those wanting to BUY a ticket have the opportunity to do so, subject to availability, from 9am Wednesday 5 June until 5pm Sunday 21 July, 2013 at www.moshtix.com.au Tickets offered for Resale will be made available at the regular, advertised price. We are unable to predict how many tickets will be returned.

The Resale facility is a clear effort to circumvent the wave of scalpers that cropped up after the initial sell-out, preying and profiteering on the desires of those desperate for a ticke to the event. Splendour warning prospective buyers that “tickets include the name and date of birth of the purchaser. This is checked against your ID at the festival gates. There is no facility in place that allows a ticketholder to change the name and date on a ticket and transfer it to another person.”

While a press statement from organisers noted that online trading website “Gumtree has been cooperating with Splendour by removing Splendour ticket listings as they appear. To date there have been no Splendour tickets offered for eBay.”
