Following the positive news that OutsideIn 2013 had sold out the first date of its two-day event, the Sydney boutique music festival has forced to scarp its second all-ages date after the headline act has pulled out.

UK producer Zomby, who topped the OutsideIn 2013 lineup, has developed a reputation for being difficult to lock in and has now cancelled his debut Australian appearance for the festival just weeks out from its kick-off, as FasterLouder points out.

A statement from OutsideIn organisers Astral People notes: “We received a call yesterday from Zomby’s management stating that he failed to board his flight to Australia due to unforeseen circumstances, which are still yet to be disclosed.”

“We are deeply sorry we are unable to provide you with a more in-depth explanation… We still endeavour to bring Zomby out for his debut Australian tour, and will keep chasing those elusive producers who inspired us to start Astral People in the first place.”

A tweet from Zomby demonstrates that the electronic producer was likely forced to cancel on his OutsideIn 2013 commitments due to an issue with his visa.

Whatever the issues, it’s permanently grounded the British musician, which has also pulled the plug on his Brisbane Festival appearance, which will instead see Otologic performing for free while ticketholders can obtain refunds from Qtix.

Zomby’s cancellation on OustideIn 2013 has meant that the festival’s second, all ages date – scheduled for Sunday 22nd September – has been cancelled in favour of two separate sideshows featuring members of the OutsideIn 2013 lineup.

Objekt, Laurel Halo, and Jam City will perform at Civic Underground on 21st September. While another triple bill – featuring Freddie Gibbs, BadBadNotGood, and Snakehips will take to the Oxford Art Factory on 22nd September. OutsideIn 2013 ticket holders will also receive discounted entry to both shows.

Meanwhile, underage ticket holders to the scrapped Sunday edition of OutsiedIn can obtain full refunds from point of purchase, while over 18s have the option of a refund or using their Sunday pass as a free entry to the sold out Saturday show.

The news of Zomby’s cancellation sadly follows in the wake of Knxwledge cancelling his OutsideIn 2013 appearance “due to a family emergency,” recently replaced by Hermitude on the festival bill.

“After chasing one of our favourite artists for three years and the additional blow of Knxwledge pulling out due to family tragedy, we have decided to consolidate the all-ages show into a series of intimate sideshows,” reads a statement from OutsideIn. “We wish to deliver an all-ages event in the near future when we can give it the focus it deserves.”

Zomby took to his twitter to console fans with the news of his cancellation saying “I’ve never even been to Australia I was quite looking forward to it tbh,” before offering:
