The second Soundwave 2014 lineup, which was originally due to be announced on Friday (1st November), is now landing this coming Friday 8th November according to the hard and heavy festival’s promoter AJ Maddah.

But as a “a warm up” for the lineup announcement, which will add “20 bands” including a third headliner to join Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold in heading the bill in the words of Maddah, the Soundwave boss revealed another two acts over the weekend via his busy twitter account.

The first new addition to the Soundwave 2014 lineup is Devil You Know, which will be the Australian debut of the new metal three-piece fronted by ex-Killswitch Engage vocalist, Howard Jones.

The first new project for the singer since walking from Killswitch Engage in 2010, Devil You Know also features guitarist Francesco Artusato (of All Shall Perish fame) and drummer John Sankey (who’s played with Devolved, Fear Factory, and Divine Heresy).

The trio will announce their full touring lineup ahead of their appearance Down Under for Soundwave, which will coincide with the release of their debut album, out early 2014 on Nuclear Blast Records.

The other new band for the Soundwave 2014 lineup is actually a group that Maddah says he’d “accidentally announced” already, explaining in a tweet that Devil You Know are actually the second of two new acts for the festival bill.

The Orange County five-piece were already rumoured for the Soundwave 2014 lineup, backing up their appearance on the 2012 edition of the festival and arriving in Australia next February off the back of their tenth and latest studio album, Call Your Friends. Released in August, the LP was the last to feature guitarist Greg Bergdorf, who was replace midway through recording by Dan Palmer (of Death By Stereo).

As for the yet to be announced third headliner, Maddah has downplayed expectations of a ‘massive’ name, ruling out the long-held possibility that it would be British metal legends Iron Maiden that would join Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold in top billing. “Not Maiden,” Maddah replied bluntly to one fan, while writing:

Various tweets from the promoter has also ruled out the likes of Rammstein, the ‘outside chance‘ of Good CharlotteDef LeppardPapa Roach, SkilletIn Flames, Shinedown, as well as Soundgarden, Bullet For My Valentine, Slipknot and Rage Against The Machine.

As for who might be among the 20 or so bands for Friday’s Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement, rumours have pegged the the likes of Jimmy Eat World, and Panic! At The Disco, Black Veil Brides, Dillinger Escape Plan, Jimmy Eat World, funk metal eccentrics Primus, (refugees from the cancelled Harvest 2013 lineup), and Maddah cryptically putting chart-topping Perth prog specialists Karnivool in the mix, (“not likely at this point but not totally out of the question either”).

Other bands that are likely to appear on the second Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement include Scar The Martyr, the side-project from Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, local thrash heroes king Parrot, as well as Newcastle ska band The Porkersraucous Melbourne rockers The Bennies, Swedish glam metal outfit Crashdiet. All three have yet to officially appear on the Soundwave 2014 lineup, despite each confirming their place on the tour ahead of the official lineup announcement.
