Jimmy Eat World Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced, playing a massive triple-header with fellow Soundwave-billed acts Panic! At The Disco and Alkaline Trio.

Following on from announcing from the third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement beefing up the mighty hard and heavy festival bill and a swathe of 2014 Sidewaves landing last week, including similarly triple-billed shows from Megadeth and Mastodon Mastodon, the latest Sidwaves shows sees another trifecta hitting Sydney and Melbourne this February.

Emerging out of the mid-90s emo scene, Jimmy Eat World have since gained mass crossover appeal for embracing a mix of alternative rock and pop that targets the head as well as the heart. From their landmark 1999 album Clarity, crowning them as major figures in the American rock scene, to their breakout 2001 album Bleed American, the four-piece have gained a devout following and carved an enviable reputation from their live show.

A string of excellent albums later – including Futures in 2004 and Chase This Light in 2007 – along arrived their seventh and latest record, Damage, released in April last year to widespread acclaim for the band’s heartwarming mix of enthusiasm and emotion wrapped into whip-tight songs.

Joining Jimmy Eat World for their 2014 Sidewaves will be Las Vegas’ Panic! At The Disco, who have been labeled emo, pop punk, electro, vaudeville, and baroque in their tenure since their 2005 debut album.

Fast forward seven years and Panic! At The Disco’s coming of age in Las Vegas looms large on the band’s fourth album Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! From its glittery synth-based, drum-heavy sound, to its playful, celebratory subject matter, to the Rat Pack-inspired imagery on the cover, to the title itself (a line from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author Hunter S. Thompson), the album finds the band, for the first time in its nearly 10-year career, owning up to loving their hometown.

Alkaline Trio will round out this massive 2014 sidewave bill. Formed looking for neither fame nor fortune, but instead working toward a potential future where their music would be meaningful to likeminded and/or disenfranchised people. More than 15 years into their career, the dark punk trio has cemented their legacy with their ninth studio album, My Shame Is True.

The Jimmy Eat World, Panic! At The Disco, and Alkaline Trio Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves join the previously announced co-headline shows from Mastodon, Baroness, and Gojira, as well as Rob Zombie & Korn, and Alter Bridge & Living Colour, plus Megadeth, Volbeat, and Newsted. Other headline Soundwave 2014 artists playing sideshows include Placebo and Stone Temple Pilots (featuring Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington).

The news also follows on from the public dispute between Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah and Sevendust, after the later cancelled on their festival appearance, the Soundwave 2014 lineup grew with a third batch of bands announced last week.

The addition of Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, industrial rock stalwarts Filter, I Killed The Prom Queen, DARKC3LL, and four more heavy acts bringing the total Soundwave 2014 tally to whopping 95 bands, including festival headliners Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold.
