There’s no denying that the Findlay sisters of Stonefield have the complete rock package.
Not only does the Aussie all-sister band channel the spirt of rock and roll in their sound, but also their threads. But where fans weren’t necessarily able to mimic Stonefield’s sound, at least they can now get their look, with news the band has launched their very own clothing line (joining a club that includes Best Coast, Gwen Stefani, and Jay Z – to name a few).
Designed by Stonefield’s own drumming, singing Amy Findlay, the aptly named Stonefield Vintage clothing line covers a range of blouses, bottoms, dresses, skirts, accessories, jackets – pretty much everything you’d find your usual ASOS addict pining for.
The collection has been gathered from the eldest Findlay’s own personal travels, inviting fashion aficionados to “come explore the wildly beautiful goods I personally adore” via the official Stonefield Vintage website. “You’ll find hand-selected pieces made of velvet, leather, lace denim and so much more. Every single garment has been chosen and washed with love.”
With her own sisters serving to model the clothes, from groovy bell-bottoms to funky shawls, the style clearly draws inspiration from the same era that’s so deeply ingrained in Stonefield’s sonic DNA: the 70s.
“My sisters and I have been fascinated with this musical, fashion and cultural epoch our entire lives,” notes the Stonefield Vintage bio. “We spent most of our childhood dressing up and performing our hearts out to pretty much anyone willing to listen, paying homage to our favourites – Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Fleetwood Mac and Hendrix… just to name a few.”
It continues: “Just like music, a piece of clothing can transform the way you feel. A dress, a shirt, a pair of jeans… once cloaked within its magic, your soul blazes with the instant recognition of the perfect match. The wild spirit inside is unleashed.”
Damn. If the budget prices (ranging from $15 – $70) don’t make a sale, that evocative pitch might.
In case you still didn’t get what Stonefield Vintage is going for, there’s even an ‘Inspiration’ video to spell it all out for you – with imagery of sun-scorched canyons, birthday-besuited hippies, and floral fashion galore intercut with images of rock-chic fashion.
The launch of Stonefield Vintage comes after the sad news that the Findlays – Amy, Hannah, Sarah, and Holly – were forced to flee their family home and rehearsal studio in the wake of the recent Victorian bushfires. Soldiering on, Stonefield committed to their scheduled Western Australian tour dates and festival appearance at Tasmania’s Party In The Paddock.
The band will also be embarking on another national tour next month in support of ‘Love You Deserve’, the latest single to be lifted from their first full-length, Stonefield; “a debut that blasts people away with powerful rock, yet it’s their slower tracks that really shine,” as our Tone Deaf reviewer wrote.
“It’s probably my favourite part of the band; doing live shows,” said eldest sibling Amy Findlay in a Tone Deaf interview last year. “We love touring… we have a lot of fun going to the towns that aren’t the major cities and the reaction you get there.”
