It seems that Eminem has once again found himself embroiled in a huge rap beef, with Nick Cannon sharing a new diss track that features longtime foe Suge Knight.

Just over a year ago, fans found themselves siding with Eminem after Machine Gun Kelly released a diss track titled ‘Rap Devil’, which itself was a response to Em’s ‘Not Alike’, from his Kamikaze album.

While Eminem served up ‘Killshot’ in retaliation, little has been said since, proving that Machine Gun Kelly has seemingly taken the sage advice of “you come at the king, you best not miss.”

However, we’ve recently seen a decade-long beef rear its ugly head again, resulting in Nick Cannon sharing his latest track, ‘The Invitation’.

Firstly, a little bit of a background thanks to the folks at Complex. Way back in 2009, Eminem released his song ‘Bagpipes From Baghdad’, which saw the rapper taking shots at Mariah Carey – who he claims he had a six-month relationship with – and her husband, Nick Cannon.

While this didn’t sit well with either Carey or Cannon, the pair responded in various ways over the years, whether it be their own respective diss tracks, Twitter posts, or publicised comments.

Although Carey and Cannon split in 2016, tensions remained high between the latter and Eminem, with Cannon opening up about the feud on T.I.’s ExpediTIously podcast in September, claiming he attempted to get in contact with Em to settle things, claiming he doesn’t “wanna fight anymore.”

Despite this plea to make amends, Eminem kept the fire burning when he appeared on Fat Joe’s “disrespectful” ‘Lord Above’ recently, dropping a verse that featured lines such as “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note/But that other dude’s whipped, that pussy got him neutered/Tried to tell him this chick’s a nut job before he got his jewels clipped.”

Now though, Nick Cannon has fired back, recruiting the likes of Hitman Holla, Charlie Clips, Prince Eazy, and the currently-imprisoned Suge Knight to deliver the ferocious ‘The Invitation’.

Kicking things off with a call from Knight, who is currently serving 28 years in prison, the locked-up mogul sets the tone by stating “Eminem’s a bitch” before Cannon jumps in with lines like “My baby mama killed you off a decade ago/You’re still cryin’ about it, bitch, now who really the ho?

As the track continues, Nick Cannon goes in on Eminem’s family, mentioning them by name, before the likes of Prince Easy drops lines such asYou forty-seven chasin’ clout” and “Marshall think he a ape, but a white boy with a backpack/I do this shit for my real niggas, not the white boys tryna act black.”

While Eminem is yet to respond to the tune (and is presumably penning his own devastating rejoinder), Cannon took to Twitter to note that Em’s legal team were in contact with him, stating that “his lawyers didn’t want that one out! They already on my line.”

Although rap feuds almost feel a bit antiquated these days, you can’t help but feel somewhat entertained by the musical war of words playing out before us.
