There’s a new release of sorts on the way from Nirvana, with the group’s 1993 Live And Loud performance finally set for an official vinyl and streaming release.

Back at the end 1993, Nirvana were undoubtedly on top of the world. With the release of their highly-anticipated In Utero album, the group had seen huge success with singles like, ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ and ‘All Apologies’, and were on track for another banner year.

Two months after the band unleashed In Utero, they hit up Seattle’s Pier 48 for a hometown performance that was broadcast on MTV’s Live And Loud.

Recorded weeks after their MTV Unplugged performance, it served as one of the final televised appearances from Kurt Cobain, and soon became popular amongst fans of the band, who traded bootlegs and videos of the performance in an attempt to relive the magic of its original airing.

While it received a DVD release in 2013, and was pressed onto CD for deluxe editions of In Utero, it’s remained relatively unobtainable for some fans out there. Now, it’s set to see another widespread release.

Announced on the official Nirvana Twitter account, the band have revealed that next month will see the iconic performance released not only on vinyl, but on streaming services for the first time as well.

Pressed onto different editions of black and coloured vinyl, the concert will mark the first vinyl release from Nirvana since April of this year, which saw their Live At The Paramount performance from 1991 finally pressed onto wax.

Pre-orders for the vinyl edition of the concert are on sale now, with an official release date set for August 30th. In the meantime, relive the majesty of the band’s Live And Loud performance with footage of their stunning rendition of ‘Heart-Shaped Box’.
