In further news that EMI haven’t got a clue, the label’s viral video stars Ok Go have upped sticks and left the label. The band lashed out at EMI for disabling embedding on their hugely popular music videos which have made them worldwide stars.
The Chicago band, now resident in Los Angeles, launched a stinging attack on their now former label in an Op-ed piece for the New York Times which singer Damon Kulash wrote while on tour in Melbourne. Read his rant here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/20/opinion/20kulash.html
In a further sign of the times, the band have announced plans to set up their own internet based label to release all future videos and recordings.
