Ever since MySpace burst onto the scene with its questionable wallpaper layouts and sociopathic ‘Top 8′ feature, social media revolutionised the music industry.

Artists’ careers have been built and broken on social network platforms; and with 45% of the world’s population on social media, communities and cult-like obsessions have formed in the most disparate of places.

Enter, the Church of Allday.

It might seem gratuitous to place Allday, the Adelaide-born, LA-based rapper, right up there with your nominated effigy, but stay with us…

Ever since he burst onto the scene using his birth name Tom Gaynor in 2011 as a stand-up comedian, we knew he would flourish in the social media realm and give us an unhealthy penchant for refreshing his timelines.

Thankfully, Allday’s activity across Insta, Twitter and Facebook has increased as he updated fans on Starry Night Over The Phone, his third LP which he gifted to the world on July 12.

The stunning record represents a quantum leap for Allday. It has incredible features from The Veronicas, Fossa Beats, Lonelyspeck and even cops a production feature courtesy of Melbourne’s Japanese Wallpaper.

It makes sense then, for us to take a look at just why Allday is so widely loved by so many with a countdown of our all-time favourite posts from his social media.

1. He makes his own parody videos

Back in June, ahead of the release of that latest full-length album, the rapper posted his own take on the iconic Genius lyric and song meaning videos. Filmed in a mate’s home studio using a green-screen, Allday talked about the meaning of ‘Lungs’.

Feast your eyes on this bad boy.

2. He hosts fan content

Allday is far from your average bloke, and has developed his career from the ground up, largely through social media. Interacting with fans through Twitter, Instagram and Facebook is his thing, and we’re all for it.

In March this year a fan created an edit of the TV series Friends, featuring his new track, ‘Protection’. Allday uploaded the clip and made sure to credit the fan.

3. He knows his audience

Granted, Allday is now located in Los Angeles, is living with musicians and rubbing shoulders with music’s elite (although he’d never brag about it). But he’s also cognisant of his core community of fans who have literally grown up with his during his ascent.

Because of this, you’ll find a lot of nostalgic posts based on his formative years growing up in suburban Adelaide, along with a healthy dose of Australiana thrown in too.

4. Even meme pages love him

A page dubbed Aussies with barely any spare time, shared a post, which reads, “I can confirm that the new Allday album is actually really good.”

Funnily enough, the rapper decided he’d share that page’s post, and write the sarcastic and cocky reply “surprise surprise dickheads” in hilarious Allday fashion.

Or this time, when he shared not one, but two of Good morning to everyone except‘s posts before and after his album release.

5. He’s not afraid to drag his mum

Earlier this year, during the triple j Hottest 100 voting period, Allday shared a hilarious email his Mum sent him. In the weeks prior to the annual countdown on January 27th, she emailed him saying, “In my opinion it would be worth doing one photo post on instagram to remind your fans that days are running out to vote for ‘Wonder Drug’.”

She continues, “Perhaps write it on a scrap of paper and hold it up?” Allday posted it, with the caption “This is my Mum’s opinion what do you guys reckon?”

6. …But he has his family’s back

7. He doesn’t shy away from his discrepancies

So much nostalgia in this one. Allday shared this snap of a very old “Personal Responsibility Record”, AKA Mr Gaynor opening up to being a little shit. Apparently he was rude about a teacher behind their back. Bad boy Allday.

Going through some old boxes and found this from school. “Being rude about a teacher behind their back. In an exam.” lol

8. He’s not afraid of a little filth

Here’s another hilarious Allday moment, the rapper is pictured here with pretty much a whole pack of cigarettes in his hands and mouth. Furthermore, he’s laying on a dirty mattress out on the street.

9. He’s open to a humble-brag, but only if it’s still poking fun

You won’t catch Allday posting a generic ‘single’s out today’ post. But you will catch up making subversive culture references and faking a humble-brag.

Granted, the two tracks Allday is referring to below, ‘Protection’ and ‘Lungs’, are stunning opuses worthy of more than a Kanye jab, but the post did the trick with one fan commenting: “I think I just peed a lil.”

Allday is a legend we can all relate to somehow. It needs to be said that we can all use an Allday in our lives.
