Pantera have celebrated the 25th anniversary of Far Beyond Driven with an intriguing logo generator.
On Friday, the world of heavy metal music celebrated a rather large milestone, with Pantera’s Far Beyond Driven celebrating its 25th birthday.
Released back in 1994 as the band’s seventh album, Far Beyond Driven went on to become the group’s highest-charting release, and spawned classic tracks like ‘I’m Broken’, ‘5 Minutes Alone’, and their cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Planet Caravan’.
In addition to its classic tracks, the record was also paired with some now-iconic artwork. Featuring a drill going into a human skull, the original design was a bit different, with their plans to show a drill going into an anus being rejected for widespread release.
However, to celebrate the record’s 25th anniversary, the band have given fans the chance to recreate this iconic cover, allowing them to submit their own text to make their own version of it.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that an artist has offered up a chance for fans to create their own album artwork. In fact, Kanye West launched the ye artwork generator last year, leading to plenty of folks using it to create hours of useless memes.
Likewise, the Shit Bar Idea Generator was also launched back in 2016, giving people the chance to create an idea for a terrible-sounding boutique bar.
In related news, former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo recently had his tour of New Zealand cancelled, after venues were made aware of his “white power” comments from 2016.
Tour promoter Ben Mulchin of Valhalla Touring released a statement addressing the claims of white supremacism, explaining that they “would never book anyone with ‘white power’ or ‘white power politics’, or any other silly political agendas. No way.”
“We need to make that very very clear — as music is our livelihood. Phil Anselmo had an indiscretion a few years back while under the influence of substances that is widely documented; by making a very hurtful remark and idiotic gesture.”
“I honestly don’t think Phil is racist but regardless he has committed a pretty terrible act in 2016.”
