Pearl Jam have now joined the ranks of bands that have proved to be our saving grace in self-isolation. To celebrate the release of their latest record, Gigaton, the band have released the Gigaton Visual Experience to anyone with Apple TV or the Apple TV app.

Per a press release, the visual experience is set to “bring the album alive through immersive audio and ultra-vivid picture quality.”

The special will be available to watch for free for seven days, after that you’ll have to purchase it. The event will be available in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, a new, revolutionary, audiovisual technology developed by Dolby.

“I’m excited for fans to be able to immerse themselves in the sound and to hear the depth and layers of these songs and performances” Gigaton producer Josh Evans said in a statement. “It’s truly a unique way to experience this album.”

Pearl Jam had originally planned to release the film in theatres in conjunction with the release of the album back in March. Obviously, due to the coronavirus pandemic, this was not able to happen.

The band were one of the first acts to cancel a tour amid the coronavirus pandemic after pulling the plug on their scheduled North American tour back on March 10th.

“It certainly hasn’t helped that there’s been no clear messages from our government regarding people’s safety and our ability to go to work,” the band shared at the time.

“Having no examples of our national health department’s ability to get ahead of this, we have no reason to believe that it will be under control in the coming weeks ahead.”
