Phil Jamieson’s 2026 Australian tour has come to an early end after the Grinspoon frontman suffered an on-stage accident on Friday night (August 7th).
The singer-songwriter was forced to cut his performance short on Friday after slipping on stage and hitting his back on a drum riser. He was taken by ambulance to Latrobe Hospital, where tests later confirmed he had fractured his L1 vertebra in his lower back.
Jamieson shared details of the accident with fans on Monday (August 10th), revealing he faces a lengthy recovery. “I spent most of Friday in emergency getting different tests etc and by 4am I was confirmed to have fractured my L1 (lower back guy), with a prescription of bed rest and a long road to recovery,” he said in a statement. “This means, sigh, that the tour is cancelled.”
Jamieson’s ‘PJ AIR Tour’ was due to continue across Australia through to September, in support of his forthcoming second solo album, 10Charlie, due for release this Friday (August 14th). “No-one is more bummed about this than me, but I can’t stand up let alone play a gig at the moment,” Jamieson added.
Venues and ticketing agencies will contact ticketholders regarding refunds.

Jamieson’s album will still be released this Friday as planned. 1oCharlie sees him diving deeper into his storytelling instincts, blending reflective lyricism, ambient guitar textures and that unmistakable voice that has defined Australian alternative music for decades.
It marks a more personal turn for Jamieson, who has reunited with producer Oscar Dawson and collaborated with the likes of Davey Lane, Rob Muinos, Ben Edgar, and Soph Ozard. Across 10Charlie, he moves between meditative moments and more intense bursts of energy, framing the project as both deeply introspective and creatively freeing.
“While we won’t be launch partying together anymore… if you feel like wrapping your earholes around it, I would be grateful,” he continued in his statement. “Lots of work went into it and I love it.
“I hope to see you all soon,” he concluded. “Love, PJ in my pjs for the foreseeable future x.”
10Charlie follows Jamieson’s 2022 debut solo album, Somebody Else, and features the previously released singles “Weekends”, “Blue As The Sunlight”, and “Reading Keats In Byron Bay”.
