Ex-Megadeth David Ellefson has formed a new band called Dieth, and their debut single is already available for purchase.

Dieth features Ellefson on the bass and will also feature Guilherme Miranda of Entombed A.D. fame on guitar and vocals, as well as Michał Łysejko, formerly of Decapitated, on drums.

“The three of us have all been recognized in our respective bands and careers but at some point, we had to close the door on those exploits to let something new begin and now we have found it in Dieth. In fact, the name itself is about dying to one’s past so that something new can spring forth to create the next chapter of life. And that is a connection the three of us hold in common,” Ellefson said of Dieth.

Ellefson was removed from Megadeth last year after a video surfaced online of him engaging in an inappropriate sexual encounter with a young woman. He was accused of grooming after an exchange leaked of him interacting with a young woman. However, the musician has refuted the claims saying that the video is “embarrassing” but insists that it doesn’t tell the full story.

Ellefson has been married for 27 years, and the leaked communication between himself and a woman (who is not his wife)  is intimate in nature. While some viewers of the leaked content have assumed the woman in question is underage, Ellefson has assured that she is not and has said the interaction was consensual.

“While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward,” Dave Mustaine said about Ellefson’s departure at the time.

Megadeth offered a formal statement about Ellefson’s removed, “We are informing our fans that David Ellefson is no longer playing with Megadeth and that we are officially parting ways with him,” it read. “We do not take this decision lightly.”
