Melbourne hip hop artist Phrase has hinted to fans that his current tour to promo his newly released LP Babylon may be his last.
His tour hit a snag a few weeks back that forced him to scale back the originally planned 18 date tour with full backing band down to 10 dates nationally. Last night Phrase jumped on his Facebook and Twitter pages to much to the surprise of everyone posted:
“These will be the first and last Babylon shows I do! ,I think I’m hanging up the gloves .Thanks to all the fans ! One last drink my friends. It’s been real !!!!”
Babylon, which was released in August and reached #29 on the ARIA charts, was an ambitious project for the veteran rapper with guest performances by Davey Lane, Jimmy Barnes, Sparkadia’s Alex Burnett, Guineafowl, The Preachers and Jane Doe.
Phrase just scored an ARIA award nomination for Babylon in the best urban album category where he is up against Illy, and Drapht who just won the best independent hip hop/urban album at the AIR awards for his latest LP The Life Of Riley.
No official confirmation has been made by Phrase or his management but we’re reaching out for comment.
