Melbourne punk rock outfit Birdhouse are back once again to reinvigorate the local guitar scene, dropping the first single from their upcoming EP Sweet.

Packing blistering guitars, scorching drum fills and seamless vocal harmonies, Birdhouse are taking a fiery new approach to their native post punk/surf pop anthems. As drummer Jamie explains, ‘Sweet’ is a song written about the joys of the open road. “The song was written about trying to enjoy the simple pleasures of life while traveling, but having experiences coloured by depressing realities.”

“Nick wrote three songs in three days, two of which made it to the EP. ‘Sweet’ soon became one of the band’s favourites. Starting with a simple melancholy guitar riff, the song grew until we were happy with the structure. Then it was Danny’s lyrics that took the song from good to great.”

Speaking of traveling, Birdhouse will be launching the single at Yah Yah’s on November 25 before taking it on the road with them to a bunch of festivals throughout the rest of the year (dates below) including a slot at Beyond The Valley.
