It’s finally here, the first single from Queens of the Stone Age’s new album Villains, and it’s called ‘The Way You Used To Do’.
Premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 program, the track is one of nine songs on the Mark Ronson-produced record, which is now set for release on August 25th.
While political statements are obviously all the rage lately, but self-described “fallen libertarian” Josh Homme makes it clear that the title has nothing to do with politics at all.
“The title Villains isn’t a political statement,” he says. “It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It’s simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened….
“Everyone needs someone or something to rail against—their villain—same as it ever was. You can’t control that. The only thing you can really control is when you let go.”
Start learning the words to this one now ahead of QOTSA’s visit to Australia in July for a run of sold-out shows, including Splendour in the Grass.
