Queens of the Stone Age have announced their ninth studio album, Perfecth, set for release on October 30th via Matador Records
The record follows 2023’s In Times New Roman… and is produced by frontman Josh Homme and bandmate Michael Shuman. To celebrate the news, the band have released new single, “Insignificant Other,” which has bee billed as the album’s “centrepiece.”
“It’s a song about distance,” Homme said. “About how someone can be your entire world only to simply vanish. And about the strange vertigo of being on the receiving end of that.”
“Every song sounds like it’s from a different world,” Homme said of Perfecth. “And that’s on purpose, because it’s trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that.”
The title itself is a deliberately broken version of “perfect,” a word Homme has never trusted. “Nothing in this world is perfect, but everything seems to be ‘perfecth,'” he explained. “And that title is funny when you’re in a group, but it ain’t so funny when you’re alone.”
The news comes after Queens of the Stone Age announced a headline tour of Australia and New Zealand set for this December, with special guests, Primus and Tropical Fuck Storm.
