ORIGINAL STORY:

Aussie concert stages are able to get a little bit funky next year, with iconic LA rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers returning for their first headline tour in over a decade.

It’s currently been almost six years since the Red Hot Chili Peppers last visited our shores, when they topped the bill at the 2013 Big Day Out. Prior to that, the group’s last headlining tour of the country was way back in 2007, when they visited off the back of 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.

Now, the Los Angeles rockers are set to return to Australia in early 2019 for a series of long-awaited shows.

Kicking off with band’s first-ever gig in Hobart on February 17th, the Chilis are set to visit Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Brisbane, and Melbourne, before wrapping up in Perth on March 5th. The group’s trip to our shores will also include an appearance in Geelong A Day On The Green at Mt Duneed Estate.

“We can’t wait to see all our fans in Australia and New Zealand – it has been too long,” said the band in a statement. “The fact that we get to play in Tassie for the first time makes this tour even more special”.

Since the Red Hot Chili Peppers were last in the country, they released 2016’s The Getaway, becoming their sixth ARIA #1 and spawning killer singles like ‘Dark Necessities’ and ‘Go Robot’.

The group have also recently hit the studio to begin work on a new album which is tentatively set for a 2019 release. No word yet as to whether Aussie audiences will get to hear some new tunes, but we can remain hopeful.

Tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2019 Aussie tour go on sale from 12pm on Monday, November 26th. A number of pre-sale events are also set to take place, with details below.

Make sure you don’t miss out on what is set to be a red hot tour when the Red Hot Chili Peppers hit up Australia for their first headline tour since 2007.
