If you’re looking for a modern day band to take you back to the 70s with some good old fashioned blues rock, then Melbourne band Recoats are the way to go.
Having established themselves as one of the best upcoming bands of last year with their debut EP, the foursome are back with their new album which is sure to get you grooving.
The self-titled LP is the first from the band and features 10 tracks of pure dirty rock.
From the first riffs of the opening track you immediately feel like you’ve been sent back in time to an era where music was so much better and the likes of Led Zeppelin ruled the charts.
Kicking the album off is “Raven”, a tune accompanied by the powerful vocals of Emilio Mercuri. This power continues on into “Death Of Ecstasy”.
“Mr. Young” starts off as a slower number but eventually picks up into an absolute ball-tearing rocker with terrific guitar solos and pounding drum beats.
The closing song of the album, “Mean Money”, drifts into a monstrous instrumental jam in the middle of the track, throwing up more guitar solos and hard hitting drumming than you could poke a stick at before ending around the nine minute mark.
The Redcoats have delivered an album filled with a certain intensity that you just don’t get anywhere else these days.
When you think rock ‘n’ roll, think Redcoats.
