Robert Fripp and Toyah Wilcox have blessed us again with another delightfully chaotic cover, this time of ‘Silver Machine’ by Hawkwind.

The pair have been taking on some of rock’s biggest hits for the better part of a year now as part of their Sunday Lunch video series, earning themselves legions of new fans.

Over the course of the series, Fripp and Wilcox have shared performances of tracks by bands like Nirvana, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters and more.

True to form, their latest performance was just as theatrical as we’ve come to expect, with Wilcox once again covered in colourful body paint as Fripp accompanied her on guitar.

Following the tradition of the last few weeks, the husband and wife duo were also joined by mysterious guitar player Sidney Jake, who has worn a mask in each of his appearances.

“Here I am in this house with this 74-year-old husband who I really don’t want to live without,” she said.

She continued: “He was withdrawing, so I thought: ‘I’m going to teach him to dance.’ And it became a challenge.”

“The response was so overwhelmingly positive, and now, six months down the line, he can see that it was quite an important thing to do, in that it became a shared experience with an audience that needed to be reminded of the beauty of human laughter.”
