ScotDrakula’s here, eats fear, get boosted kid.

ScotDrakula is part of the next Throwing Frisbee event ‘No Rest For The Wicked’ on August 25 – how did you guys get involved in these shows?

We hang out with Throwing Frisbees because we already hung out with Will who does it. We played with his sweet band The Shards too.

Throwing Frisbee say the aim of their shows is to bring more music to Melbourne. How do you think these events are beneficial to the Melbourne live music scene?

The Melbourne live music scene will always be benefited by live music! Because without it, it wouldn’t exist?

You’ve recently released the new track “Burner”, was it received the way you hoped?

We hadn’t hoped for much in terms of releasing Burner as a single because it was just a sort of slapdash “the e.p will be out soon guys, we promise!”. We’ll definitely be doing more promotional things when the whole thing is out but for now we’re just stoked that our friends like it.

Is “Burner” part of a new record? If so, when can we expect to hear it?

Yes! I accidentally just said that in the last question. Burner is a seven track release that will be out “soon”. We’ve finished it but just need to think about distributing and pressing and stuff. The boring part basically.

How would you describe ScotDrakula’s sound?

Yelling and guitars and fuzzy and pointy and fun.

What/who are your greatest influences when producing music?

Matt is from Canada so identifies heavily with the garage revival scene in America– Jay Reatard, Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees etc. We all love classics like Lou Reed and Chuck Berry. Evi loves Bette Midler.

What has been your most memorable gig to date?

We have pretty bad memories but we played a wicked gig last week with our friends Dune Rats in our friends house in Preston. There was a lot of jumping and stomping. Also a lot of beer and singing. General good time vibes.

If you could play at any venue/festival where would it be?

I guess we should say something impressive like SXSW or something but we’d probably rather just play Camp A Low Hum or Sugar Mountain because they’re really fun! I’m sure SXSW would be amazing. We’re just kind of more into hanging out with our friends.

How do you like your music? On digital, CD, or vinyl (maybe even cassette)?

We have released digital, CDs and yes even some cassettes! We would like to press vinyls for our next release, funds permitting. They all serve a good purpose really.

Where else can we catch you playing next?

According to the DrakCal (ScotDrakula Calender) the week after Throwing Frisbees we are playing at The Grace Darling on the 1st of September with The Spitfires. Father’s Day Eve! Get crack!
