Scott Taylor, the guitarist for 1980s English rock band Then Jerico, has died of a brain tumour just shortly after he was discharged from hospital to his home on Monday, April 27th.
The band broke the sad news on their Instagram, with singer Mark Shaw calling his bandmate’s passing “devastatingly sad”.
“He’d been gravely ill for the last couple of years and he was hospitalised earlier this year but discharged so I was hoping to see him again, but it wasn’t to be… I send my deep sincere condolences & love to his wife Miranda and both of his daughters,” Shaw said in the post.
“Scott was a powerhouse of creativity, inspiration and musical innovation and most probably the best guitarist I’ve ever heard. We wrote some great songs together and I know I speak for all the old band members when I say he was loved and very respected by us all for his unique talents and amazing abilities.

They continued, “Scott was a powerhouse of creativity, inspiration and musical innovation and most probably the best guitarist I’ve ever heard.
“We wrote some great songs together and I know I speak for all the old band members when I say he was loved and very respected by us all for his unique talents and amazing abilities. He made us laugh and cry for many reasons and I’ll miss him more than I ever had the chance to tell him.

Then Jerico, consisting of Taylor, Mark Shaw, Steve Wren and Jasper Stainthorpe, first rose to fame in the 1980s with the song ‘First (The Sound of Music)’, followed by 1989’s The Big Area’. They broke up in the early 1990s but reunited in 2013 for the release of their album, Reprise.
