Short Stack announced their first live dates since 2015 earlier this month. Any suggestion the band was past its use-by date has now been rubbished, as pre-sale tickets in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have been going like hotcakes.
It’s not too late to find tickets for Brisbane’s Triffid on July 2, Melbourne’s 170 Russell on July 3 and Sydney’s Metro on July 4. But the late-’00s pop punk trio haven’t hesitated in announcing more tour dates. The triad of extra shows will actually precede the already announced tour.
The three-piece lineup of Shaun Diviney, Andy Clemmensen and Bradie Webb play a second show at the Metro on June 20. They’ll then head over to Melbourne’s Croxton Bandroom on June 26 and have added another show at the Triffid on July 1.
Short Stack have been absent from the live scene since 2015. Diviney, Clemmensen and Webb gained a massive Myspace following when they were just teenagers in the mid-’00s. This led to high profile support slots with the likes of the Veronicas, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, and a rapid jump to headliner status.
The band’s zeitgeisty debut, Stack Is the New Black, came out in August 2009 and scored the #1 slot on the ARIA charts. Album two This is Bat Country arrived soon after, but the band broke up in 2012. The 2013 post-breakup record Art Vandelay was dedicated to the fans and a short-lived 2015 reunion spawned the album Homecoming.
