Nikki Sixx’s Sixx:A.M. project might be able to enter a period of renewed activity, with the group’s frontman posting a hopeful update on Twitter.

Back in 2007, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx recruited a pair of musicians to create a soundtrack accompaniment to his upcoming biography, The Heroin Diaries. Releasing the album under the band name Sixx:A.M., it soon turned into an ongoing project, with further albums and tours being announced.

With DJ Ashba on guitar duties and James Michael taking on vocals, Sixx:A.M. released a total of five albums before going on hiatus in 2017. While Michael and Ashba have been busy in the band Pyromantic, it now seems like Sixx:A.M.’s hiatus is about to end.

Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Nikki Sixx revealed some of his upcoming plans. “Mixing Mötley Crüe w/ Bob Rock and Tommy Lee over the weekend,” he wrote. “Shooting a video in two weeks with Sixx:A.M.”

While the band haven’t made any indication that they’re back in the studio, recording new music under the Sixx:A.M. name, it definitely seems as though the fact they’re filming a video indicates there’s movement within the camp.

In related news, former Mötley Crüe vocalist Vince Neil recently revealed that The Dirt – the new biopic about the band – is set to be released on March 22nd.

“Nikki and I went to a table read and it was so fucking surreal,” explained Tommy Lee of the film’s content. “Especially when the movie opens like that, you go, ‘Oh, my God, if it opens like this, this is fuckin’ nuts.’ That was really a trip.”

“Jeff Tremaine’s vision is to … make it as real as possible. He’s really detail-oriented. He’s like, it’s going to be down to the cars you see on the street, the telephones from the Eighties, the lights. The outfits.”

“You’re going to feel like you’re in that time period, and he wanted a lot of stuff, Lee concluded. “There will be a lot of P.O.V. stuff where you’ll be in Vince’s head, in Nikki’s head while it was going down.”

Coming three-and-a-half years after Mötley Crüe’s breakup, The Dirt is also set to include new music from the band, who have been in the studio laying down new tracks.
