It’s the biggest collab we’ve been hearing about for a few months now, and now we finally have an idea how it’s going to sound, with Skegss teaming up with Alex The Astronaut onstage at Splendour earlier today.

Back in February, it was announced that two of the biggest Aussie indie names to have placed the 2017 Hottest 100 were set to make some beautiful music together.

Taking to Instagram, Alex The Astronaut jokingly noted that “You can call me Alex the skeg now (just joking I’m still an astronaut but I sang backing vocals on the new Skegss album).”

With Skegss’ debut album, My Own Mess, set to hit the shelves on September 7th, you’re probably wondering what it’s going to sound like, eh? Well thanks to a cheeky Splendour collab today, you can have a bit of a sneak peek.

Yes, with Skegss hitting the stage at Splendour In The Grass earlier today, the group were also joined by none other than studio mate Alex The Astronaut. “We’re going to play this song. It’s about absolutely nothing,” the group noted, before jumping into ‘New York California’, with Alex on guitar and vocal duties.

Thankfully, one Splendour attender decided to take a video of the cheeky collab, which you can scope out below.

While we’re not sure yet which track (or tracks!) Alex The Astronaut will be performing on with Skegss on their new record, tunes like ‘Up In The Clouds’, ‘Smogged Out’, and this recent live performance have definitely gotten us really excited for the good things to come.
