Slipknot is continuing to tease metalheads around the world, yesterday revealing that their forthcoming 6th LP will be about “good vs. evil.”

Speaking to Billboard about the band’s next chapter, band and image mastermind Shaun “Clown” Crahan revealed that when it comes to themes around the new record “[it] breaks down to…good vs. evil, or in this sense, evil vs. good.”

“This world is ugly and it’s supposed to be, and it has to be in order for art to lead to grandness and beauty.”

The band have already been drip-feeding the details for the new record, using an anonymous app called ‘Touche’ that led fans to discover the release date of All Out Life, the first taste of the un-named new LP.

Crahan noted that the promotional cycle for the new record is “a very definite outline we created, going on three years ago now.”

“We wanted to create something brainless (touche) and draw you in and bring you in in a way that you’re used to…this is based on watching entire families sitting at dinner tables and just destroying their time together on these brainless things (mobile phones).”

“You can learn piano or guitar on these (apps), and I’m sure they work, but you can’t forget that you can sit down at a real piano or pick up a real guitar.”

Despite the new single being out, Crahan revealed that the record still isn’t finished, with the band working alongside producer Greg Fidelman on a “plethora of songs, all demoed.”

“There are songs that are considered the album, but everything can change.”

When asked about a potential release Crahan pointed to upcoming shows the band has booked in June, but cautiously added: “We’re not following any rules this time…we’re on an outline, and I think everybody’s going to be pleasantly surprised.”

In the meantime, December 7th will see the release of a 10th-anniversary edition of the band’s 4th LP All Hope Is Gone.

The re-issue will feature 9 unreleased tracks from the album sessions, as well as a full concert recorded at Maddinson Square Garden from the tour cycle.

“I’m lucky I even have a team that will help me make a physical product, and I’m even luckier and blessed to have a fan base that’s willing to buy physical product,” said Crahan.

“To tie it back to Touché, they don’t need to be reminded it’s still important to hold a fucking piece of music in your hand”.
