Slipknot look set to tread new ground with their upcoming music video, with the band say they’re “trying something new” as filming begins for the ‘Nero Forte’ clip.
Back in August, Slipknot returned to our ears with We Are Not Your Kind, their sixth studio album, and first in five years.
To promote the record, the group had released a number of singles and accompanying videos. While it all kicked off with the non-album track ‘All Out Life‘ one whole year ago, we soon received the likes of ‘Unsainted‘, ‘Solway Firth‘ and ‘Birth Of The Cruel‘.
However, just because the record has dropped doesn’t mean the videos won’t keep coming, with the group revealing they’ve just begun the filming process for their latest single, ‘Nero Forte’.
Taking to Twitter yesterday, Shawn “Clown” Crahan revealed to the band’s followers that they were kicking off the first of a four-day schedule for the new clip, with Clown set to do some “scouting and looking” during the production before he begins the editing process.

“Clown here. It’s the 28th, we’re getting ready for our video — ‘Nero Forte,'” he explained to the band’s followers. “We grabbed some MGM spot where they have a sound stage.
Usually in Slipknot, things get crazy quickly and we start losing time because of space. So we brought the space in a lot tighter and I think this is gonna work.
“Now we can paint. Everyone that’s involved can paint — camera can paint, lights can paint, I can paint — everyone can just put their two cents in and really get in here and make something special.”
While the whole process already sounds a little bit different with the mention of widespread painting, it sounds as though the entire result is going to be something that we’ve not seen before.
“To all the Slipknot fans, this is going to be an amazing time,” he added. “Thanks for being here. We’re trying something new. Welcome to ‘Nero Forte’ — the dark force.”
While it remains to be seen just what this new “something” will be, this news is undoubtedly a little bittersweet for fans of the band, considering that Slipknot’s Aussie tour with Metallica was supposed to wrap up yesterday.
Sadly, Metallica revealed last month that their upcoming dates would be postponed while frontman James Hetfield entered a treatment program in order to confront his struggles with addiction.
At this stage, there’s no word as to when these dates will be rescheduled, though Slipknot have said they’re hoping to bring their live show down to Australia regardless at a similarly undetermined date.
